II. Significant Events.
A. When Ashoka saw an extremely bloody battlefield (some other sources say that it was when Ashoka took a tour of a city after the Battle of Kalinga) and decided "to reject violence.
B. He became a Buddhist, and "supported the Buddhist values of love, peace, and nonviolence".
C. Ashoka created edicts for his people. Edicts were "a command that is obeyed like a law.

A. Ashoka was very changeable. Like how he was a mean and vicious ruler, and then turned into a nice and peaceful ruler.

V. My Impressions
A. Ashoka set high standards for himself when he was conquering other territories, and managed to expand India to it's current boundaries.
B. In my opinion, Ashoka was just an over-achiever, building 40-50 feet high pillars and then making them shine like glass!
C. On the other hand, Ashoka was committed to becoming Buddhist, and "gave up hunting and became a strict vegetarian.
D. He was also devoted to Buddhism and the values of Buddhism.
